At first glance, one may think of the C5 Knee Pads as just another overpriced Dye product. Though Dye usually does deliver good quality on their products, I was a bit skeptical about the hefty price tag that came with these knee pads. But because of my great need for knee pads as a front man and as a person with bad knees, and also because I happened to have a gift certificate, I went ahead and bought some.

When taking them out of the package you start to notice a considerable amount of difference between these and last year’s c4 knee pads. The first thing I noticed was the amount of padding on these. They seemed to have a lot of padding when compared to other brands of knee pads, while still being flexible to the movement of your legs. The overall design of the knee pads was quite different too when compared to last year's, including more padding added to protect the upper and lower knee along with padding added to protect the sides of the lower knee.

After wearing them and trying them out on and off the field, I would have to say I am impressed. They provided a lot of cushion to the punishment my knees took. Landings on the ground that would normally have given me some pain for the rest of the day, I would barely feel while wearing these. Also, unlike some other brands of knee pads that I have tried in the past, during dives and slides these didn’t move around at all. Another point that I don’t know was intentional or not by the creator’s of Dye’s knee pads is that the tension put on the portion that goes around the back of your leg while kneeling helped me to keep better balance and pop up faster.

Overall they are some of the best knee pads I have worn and my only complaint would be that they feel overly tight when in a kneeling position. But I would rather have a little ache in my legs from their tightness, than to have them slide off of my legs during the middle of a dive. So you can expect to see me on the field wearing my Dye C5 Knee Pad’s, which can be bought for their price tag fee of $49.95.
