Die PGI hat mit ihrer Ausgabe #187 in Nord Amerika Rekordverkaufszahlen erreicht. In dem Magazin war eine CD mit einer Online Version von „What Paintball Gear…?“ enthalten, im Gegensatz zur Ausgabe #186 wurde die Verkaufszahlen um 64% gesteigert. Dazu auch die Pressemitteilung der PGI:
Paintball Games International Magazine has announced record sales for issue #187 (November 2004) in North America.
The issue, which was covermounted with a free CD of PGI's sister publication, the annual gear bible What Paintball Gear? saw a phenomenal 64% sales increase over issue #186.
Group Editor Steve Duffy commented, „We are delighted with these figures. As the original Paintball gear magazine, What Paintball Gear is highly respected and we were confident that an electronic copy of the magazine bagged with PGI would be an unbeatable combination. Having seen the sell-through figures for the print copy of What Paintball Gear the US newstrade agreed and increased PGI's distribution accordingly.“
Off the back of this, as of issue #190 (on sale Feb 2005) PGI's newstrade order in North America increased by over 50% and the magazine is now in double the number of wholesalers compared to 2004…and that's before taking into account the magazine's recent nationwide special promotion in Barnes and Noble bookstores. Duffy added: „This huge increase in orders from the US newstrade is just another step in an ongoing process – with What Paintball Gear 2005 hitting the shelves next month and further special promotions to come, including a repeat of the free What Paintball Gear CD later this year, we aim to continue providing the industry with a cutting edge publication that takes their message to the widest possible audience.“
