Die Angel Speed 05 ist der aktuellste Markierertest bei 68caliber.com. Laut Test, ist das neuste erhältliche Werk aus der englische Schmiede WDP sehr gut.
Dressed to Kill
The '05 Speed
The 05 Speed fresh from the twisted minds over the pond at WDP, has a very unassuming appearance. Nothing outlandish, like a "Ripper" theme milling. No outlandish anodizing finish, like its' "Rasta FLY" cousin. Instead, the 05 Speed attracts you to it with an elegant, smooth shape, and the performance to keep you around. Not a single sharp edge to the gun, your hands almost glide over it. The model that I purchased is in the blue finish, has a very deep, and well done coloring. In the opinion of the writer, most WDP finishes have been excellent, almost pieces of art. But art wasn't intended to stand up well to punishment. However, after quite a bit of rough use the 05 Speed's finish has shown no marks of wear. Apparently WDP seems to have made the anodizing finish a bit more durable, while still retaining an excellent finish that they are known for.
Upon picking up the marker, you can tell the signature feel of an Angel. The Space Frame really contributes to the feel of the marker in your hands since it runs perpendicular to the body instead of the traditional 45 degree angle. However, 05 Speeds are available with the traditional 45 frame if you desire. One of the big complaints of previous Space Frames was the beefy skin grips which are big for some hands. It seems that the new grip panels have undergone a serious revision as well, with the panels being at least half the thickness of older skin grips. Along with the larger trigger guard the frame is a bit more open and welcoming to your hands. Plenty of room for you to work your skill fingers around without feeling like you're holding onto a tuna fish.
Another significant change that the 05 Speed has over previous Angels is the new regulator. The mini-reg now is housed within a more ergonomic chamber. You still get the same dependability of the mini-reg with just a bit more comfort and style added in. Finally, WDP has done to regulators what they've done with grip frames.
A Good Head On Your Shoulders
Building on the philosophy of the older Speed, the new baby of the family has realized that some players don't like all the bells and whistles that his older brothers have. Instead of fancy LCD displays, multiple menu screens, and sophisticated user interfaces the 05 Speed has a simple light up display to indicate all important data to the user. Upon boot-up, the LED lights go through a diagnostic to make sure all lights on the board work, then display the battery meter. After the bootup sequence the lights will then indicate if the eyes are detecting correctly, and if there is a ball in the breech. This makes it easy for a user to check if the eyes are functioning correctly.
Which brings us to the next major change. WDP has removed the internal NiMH battery, and has put a 9v Battery adapter into the board. No more car chargers, to the dismay of some and to the delight of others.
In the the 05 Speed board, WDP has removed all the different buttons on their LCD boards in favor of one single button. To program the board, you push the button to select the parameter that you wish to alter. The topmost indicator light on the board flashes the color for the parameter that you have selected. Red for trigger snubbing, orange for hopper type for eye logic, green for dwell. To alter each parameter, pull the trigger to add to the values. The LEDs will light up to reflect the value for the parameter. Once you are finished just replace the grip cover and cycle the power.
Eye See You
The ergonomic minireg
The EYEQ logic during testing works fantastic. When set up properly, the system will never fail. However, like all things it can be set up incorrectly. Eye modes 1-4 are present in the programming, with mode 1 being meant for gravity fed hoppers, all the way up to mode 4, meant for super fast force-fed loaders. The important thing to notice is that the eye sensitivity and ball delay are directly controlled by the mode that you have set. If you use an VL Evolution II with the 4th mode (meant for HALO B operation) you do risk having a chop, since the eye logic assumes that the balls are given enough time to settle in the breech. However, if you set the EYEQ to mode 3 (meant for the VL Evolution) you will never have a chop since the system is a bit more sensitive, with a larger ball delay so the ball can settle in the breech. In the writer's experience, with the correct settings, the system is foolproof. The only time a chop ever occurred was when the 4th mode was deliberately selected, and an EVOII was used. The EYEQ system functioned as usual, however, near the end of the hopper load (the last ball in fact), the gun chopped. There was only gravity there to push it into the breech, instead of the usual acceleration from balls above and the impeller. Hence, not enough time for the ball to settle in the breech before the system cleared the gun to fire.

Going from a IR3, the gas efficiency was as expected after using an Angel for many years before. Very frugal with gas from the Crossfire 68/4500. Perhaps even better than an IR3. With good weather and good paint, an efficiency of over 1400 shots is not out of the realm of possibility with the 68/4500 preset that has been used. One thing to note is that the Crossfire bottle used during review was a 850 PSI preset, which the new mini reg can handle without any problems. Chrono data using a .690 JT Barrel with Diablo Heat paint, was surprisingly consistent. Average deviation between shots was around +- 2 FPS, to the delight of the reviewer.
Get The Ball Rolling (Flying?)
The magnetic trigger
After owning the 05 Speed for a little over 3 months, the results for the gun are outstanding. The EyeQ logic works amazing, even with the 12V revolution w/ X-board that was preferred by the reviewer. Even while sacrificing speed, the EYEQ software was always dependable, and there was never a reported chop. The Magnetic trigger allowed for fast rates of fire (when fitted with the appropriate hopper of course), with an excellent snappy pull and return. The addition of the Vernier wheels made dialing in a trigger setting next to nothing. If you didn't like your setup, you could easily change the trigger setup, to the point where you could be playing a game, trying out different lengths of pre and post travel, if needed. One downside is that the magnetic properties of the trigger cannot be adjusted, and is the only real drawback. The trigger itself is a standard blade design, and has absolutely no slop side to side. The trigger is also mounted on a ball-bearing pivot, so the pull is effortless.
And That's All She Wrote
Overall, another great marker from WDP, which incorporates incredible rates of fire for today's game, with well thought out engineering. Like all WDP products, this is all brought together in signature WDP sophistication. Truly, a marker made in heaven
