Fuel Up With BAWLS at the Las Vegas NPPL

MIAMI – Nov, 4, 2004 – BAWLS Guarana, the official drink sponsor of the National Professional Paintball League, is gearing up for the next exciting stop on the NPPL Super 7 tournament tour, San Diego November 11-14th. Paintball Fans Can Order Personalized Trading Cards

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (Nov. 1, 2004) – The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and the Upper Deck Company have entered into an exclusive partnership that will introduce the first Upper Deck personalized trading cards for professional paintball players and paintball enthusiasts.

A key element in the partnership is Upper Deck's online personalized trading card program, which gives paintball enthusiasts the chance to create their own personalized Upper Deck paintball trading cards.

“Paintball is currently the third-most popular extreme sport in the world, and with over 12 million followers, we feel the sport deserves to be recognized with Official Upper Deck Personalized Trading cards,” said Susan Theodore, Product Manager for Personalized Products at Upper Deck.

Cheater Chip Banned

Markers that contain any chips or boards manufactured by the above mentioned company will be deemed to be “illegal markers”. The team of any player found using an illegal marker will be disqualified from the tournament. The NPPL supports safe play and abides by all American Standards and Testing Material (ASTM) paintball standards. In addition, paintball insurance companies do not insure Paintball events or fields that permit the use of fully automatic markers or markers that shoot in multiple burst modes. In an effort to stop players and teams from using illegal markers, referees will be randomly checking players markers throughout the NPPL sanctioned Super 7 Series tournament in San Diego. Teams competing in this tournament must send a representative to the Captains Meeting for further announcements on enforcement of the ban on cheater chips and on other NPPL Rules. The Captains meeting will be held Thursday November 11th at 6 pm.

In addition to covering many topics outlined below, the NPPL will be introducing the new Official NPPL Ultimate Judge, Dan Perez. Perez has been with the NPPL since the inception of the Super 7 World Series. He has been a head judge since the Las Vegas 2003 Super 7 Event and has been the head judge on the NPPL field for the last 5 events. Perez, also Head Trainer for the NPPL PRO Referee Training Courses, was the Ultimate Judge at the 2004 International Amateur Open (IAO) in Pittsburg PA. Perez is known for standing firm on his calls and comes highly recommended as the perfect person for this position.
